LabMaster Process

Raw / Uncleaned
CLIA Database

We began with 500,000+ records*, publicly available from CMS. The data is self-reported, non-normalized, and not validated.

Remove Inactive &
Low Volume

We exclude all non-active licenses, and those performing fewer than 1,200 tests annually.

Validation
Process

This leaves approximately
110,000 licenses to validate, one at a time. It is a painstaking process, but the only way to ensure accuracy.

Expert
Normalization

Spelling is corrected, addresses are standardized, and we append data such as ownership and/or network affiliation, number of practitioners, bed size, etc.

* Many laboratory sites have multiple CLIA Licenses. While including all relevant licenses, we clearly indicate when they are part of the same facility.
